Chief Master Sergeant Diane K. Schaefer serves as the Senior Enlisted Leader for the Air Force Deputy Chief of Staff for Warfighter Communications and Cyber Systems and as the Air Force Warfighter Communications (1D7XX) Career Field Manager (AFCFM). She advises the Deputy Chief of Staff on the guidance, oversight, and advocacy of Air Force Warfighter Communications and Cyber Systems implementation as well as strategic planning, resourcing, force development, readiness, and management activities to advance Joint warfighting missions ensuring technological superiority and operational resilience. Additionally, she oversees 11 Air Force Specialty Codes across 5 skills elements, working with 10 Major Commands, two air reserve components and their respective Major Command Functional Managers on the force development, mission relevance, operational training, talent management, manpower, assignments, career field policies, and utilization of a 29,000-person workforce comprised of active duty, guard, and reserve personnel.
Chief Master Sergeant Schaefer is from Phoenix, Arizona and entered the Air Force in April of 1997. Her background includes performing duties and responsibilities leading teams in Cyberspace Operations, Logistics, Force Support, Civil Engineering, and Finance career fields, Wing Inspections and Plans, Wing Deployment Management and Enlisted and Officer Recruiting. Her deployment experience includes tours to Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan and Kirkuk, Iraq in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM and Operation IRAQI FREEDOM.
