William Marion
CEO and Founder | Mission Digital DefenseWilliam E. “Bill” Marion II is a recognized leader in digital transformation and cybersecurity, currently serving as the CEO and Founder of Mission Digital Defense. With a career spanning high-level government service and private sector consulting, he specializes in IT modernization, Zero Trust architecture, and enterprise-scale technology integration.
Before entering the private sector, Marion served 27+ years in the Air Force culminating as the Deputy Chief Information Officer (CIO) for the United States Air Force. In this role, he oversaw a global IT portfolio valued at $17 billion, leading the strategic direction for cloud computing, cybersecurity, and digital workforce development. His tenure was defined by a focus on “Software Factories” and modernizing the Air Force’s technical infrastructure to support mission-critical operations.
Following his distinguished civilian service, Marion joined Accenture Federal Services as a Managing Director. He leveraged his deep understanding of Department of Defense (DoD) requirements to help federal agencies navigate complex digital shifts. During this time, he focused on scaling innovative technologies and implementing robust digital modernization and cybersecurity solutions for large-scale government enterprises.
As the head of Mission Digital Defense, Marion now provides strategic advisory services focused on bridging the gap between cutting-edge technology and national security needs. His work centers on accelerating the adoption of Zero Trust principles and ensuring military and federal entities maintain a competitive edge through agile, secure, and modernized IT ecosystems.
